Youth is full of turmoil, so it is natural that teenagers often upset or stressed. But teenage disorder is not only influenced by the problems faced daily, because eating less fruit can also affect it.

A study at Deakin University recently revealed teenagers who are diligent in eating vegetables and fruits are relatively less likely to experience psychiatric problems. Conversely if often eat fast food and less nutritious, adolescents will be susceptible to depression and anxiety.

This fact is concluded based on observations made by researchers on 3,000 teenagers aged 11-18 years across Australia. During the 2-year period since 2005, participants' diet was observed and various psychiatric disorders experienced were also recorded.

Felic Jack, the scientist who led the study, said there was a close link between diet and diet with the level of turmoil. But in his publication in the journal PLoS One, he did not explain in more detail how the two can be related.

Jack just suggested, teenagers need to consume 2 servings of fruit and 5 servings of vegetables each day if you want to avoid stress. Consumption of wheat or other complex carbohydrates such as sweet potatoes and potatoes also needs to be improved, while rice and fast food should be reduced.

"Eating foods with high nutrients is very important for teenagers because at this time they experience a very fast and dynamic growth.An adequate nutrition will be very helpful," said Jack as quoted from Xinhuanet, Sunday (25/09/2011).

Psychological problems such as depression and anxiety are very common among teenagers. A study has even revealed, 1 in 5 teens in Australia experience at least 1 type of psychiatric problems both triggered by genetic factors or stress or environmental factors.
