Obesity and metabolic disorders in people who too often eat fast food occurs due to the large amount of fat content and the use of oil in these foods. While the threat to the heart is generally triggered by the use of salt, although cholesterol is also very affect.

In a study conducted by experts from Kobe University, it was revealed that regular consumption of tea can prevent damage to blood cells due to increased levels of bad cholesterol. As a result, the risk of developing type 2 diabetes may be reduced.

The study, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, uses two types of tea - green tea and black tea. Both can provide benefits, but black tea is said to give more protection for the heart.

The benefits of tea that can be obtained according to the study include preventing increased levels of bad cholesterol, sugar levels and insulin resistance. These three conditions are the main factors that trigger type 2 diabetes caused by an unhealthy diet.

"Drinking tea can prevent obesity and help regulate blood fat levels," said Dr Carrie Ruxton of the Tea Advisory Panel, as quoted by Dailymail, Sunday (19/12/2010).

Various previous studies have revealed other benefits of tea that reduce the risk of heart attacks, cancer and neurological disorders especially Parkinson's. In young women, tea also helps increase bone density, thereby reducing the risk of osteoporosis.
